Jalan Raya Ubud...early in the morning...

Ubud is just a small town that sprawls around a few kilometres. The town has three main streets: Jl Raya Ubud, Jl Monkey Forest and Jl Hanoman. Along these roads you'll found different types of accommodation to choose from (one of which I would consider on the next visit is Ubud Village Hotel - sister hotel of Ubud Village Resort and Spa), shops selling so many things: batik, sarong, clothes (one of which I found interesting was halter neck dresses made from batik silk-the price is around Rp200,000.00 n above since it's silk), tshirts (it's a heaven for women clothes - I found the designs n styles quite pleasing), wood carvings, sculptures, paintings, house decorative items such as lamps, table runners, cushion cover, table mats, woven items such as baskets, handbags, place mats, cutleries organizers, tissue boxes n etc. You'll found that these things are sold in either a normal looking shop or in a boutique with a nice interior which prices much higher than the rest. Along these roads you can also found pharmacies, restaurants and cafes.

Walking can be quite challenging though...since at a few locations somewhere along these streets you have to go up and down the hills...anyway, with the nice things to see on the left and right side of the road...you'll forget the exhaustion coz you'll be too busy looking around.

I enjoyed walking around Ubud little town. Other than seeing all those mentioned above, I get to see Balinese ladies taking prayer at the nearby temples...placing offerings at certain locations, locals balancing basket on their heads...get to see closer the life of a Balinese in Ubud.
