Favorite thing: There was obviously some friction between Roosevelt or Harold Ickes and then President Hoover. When Ickes replaced then Secretary of the Interior Ray Lyman he removed Hoovers name completely off the project and wanted to call it the Boulder Canyon Project. Luckily, Congress has the only say, so after Roosevelt died in 1945 and Ickes retired in 1946 Congress restored the name to be called Hoover Dam 1947 and it was signed in by Harry S. Truman.
Hoover Dam
The dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on US Highway 93 at the Nevada-Arizona border.
