In case you want to visit one of the lesser known, unspoilt and beautiful wine villages along Deutsche Weinstraße (German Wine Route), I can highly recommend to make a small detour to Forst, north of famous Bad Dürkheim. It consists of more or less only one street (and is called a street village) with several side streets: open the link to google maps below to see the street layout. It is fairly “new” compared to the several hundred or thousand year old villages and cities in Rheinland-Pfalz but definitely more charming than many others because it is so small. The main street is narrow, sometimes impossible for two cars to pass each other. The houses are often manors of the wine dynasties in town and look magnificent from spring on when wine and wisteria and other plants are taking over the wall decoration. Or in autumn when the leaves start to explosion in colour and plant this “I want to stay here” feeling into almost everyone who comes for a visit. Along the main street many wine pubs invite to enter and sample wine or delicious snacks but also several restaurants offer fantastic meals. I was once there in spring when wine pubs were not yet open so I had my early dinner in Der Kleine Prinz. It was during ramson season and I could taste that all was home made and tasted heavenly.

Forst does not offer many “sights to see” like museums or exceptional churches or any of these, but it has this magnificent atmosphere, homey and cosy which makes it so exceptional. I made a small page about it, see link below.
