most of the people here come from the Hakka, an ethnic minority in Hong Kong.

this fishing village is as old as china, it is just a typical chinese fishing village but it's claim to prominence started in the 1800's wherein it bacame a transhipment point for illegal immigrants to Hong Kong from China (remember, before the 1896, the 99 year lease granted by China to Great Britain, the British Possesions were just Hong Kong Island! Kowloon and the other outlying islands and new territories became part of the colony after the lease!). In this fishing village aslo most of the people are hakka minority instead of cantonese. At Present, tourism, whale watching and Sea Food Dining are the main draw of the Village and various Lantau Island Tours Include a stop at this famous Fishing Village.
