"Bank of China Building" Bund - Buildings Tip by Willettsworld

Bund - Buildings, Shanghai: 34 reviews and 68 photos

The Bank of China Building, built in 1937 at No.23 The Bund on the site of the old German Club (c. 1907), housed the headquarters of the Bank of China. The stunted appearance of the building is attributed to Sassoon's insistence that no other building on the Bund could rise higher than his. In the original design, this building had 34 floors and would've been the highest in the Far East.
