On the corner of "rue de Fourcy" and "rue de Jouy" look up slightly and you'll see this sculpture. It is in fact only a replica, the original is in the "Musée Carnavalet", but it is the first known public advertisement in stone in Paris. The piece is known as the "Le Remouleur" and is of the grinder that used to come round with his little barrow and tools for sharpening knives etc.Originally placed 150 metres from here, it was moved when the original building was demolished.
Situated at no.1 rue de Fourcy 75004 Paris.
For those interested in photography the European House of Photography is situated at nos. 5/7 rue de Fourcy. Open Wed/Sun 11h00 to 20h00. There is an exhibition by Henri Cartier-Bresson at the moment until the 30th August 2009.
St. Paul is the nearest metro.
