Beautifully renovated courtyard and buildings (I should know I worked on the renovation of some of the appartements on left hand side in 1976-78 laying carpet). Nice cobbles and quietness pervades here, plenty of trees and birds whistling, creates a nice atmosphere. The old library "L'Arbre a Lettres" was being repainted when I was here, otherwise some nice workshops. UPDATE - The library has moved to much finer accommodation just to the right of the courtyard on faubourg St. Antoine.
Anecdote : It is believed that the Black Musketeers used to play games here, as their barracks were just round the corner in rue de Charenton and in one of the buildings there is a staircase known as "the Musketeers staircase".
Courtyard can be found at no. 56 rue du faubourg St. Antoine.
Ledru Rollin is the closest metro.
