Duck King (Yawang Kaoya): "Best meal in Beijing" Beijing Restaurant Tip by oerkenbo
Beijing Restaurants: 709 reviews and 938 photos
Having said that most of the Chinese restaurants in Beijing don't exactly leave one rushing back anytime soon.
This restaurant is slightly cheaper than the other roast duck restaurants like Quanjude, Dadong, etc. A whole duck costs RMB 168. They also have some sesame buns in addition to the crepes that you eat your duck with. Quite yummy. Their claim to fame is a 100-year+ tradition of using fruit tree wood for firing the ducks. The effect however is not that obvious. The duck was quite delectable no matter what they did.
I didn't really care for some of the other dished -- the smoked fish had too many bones. The duck liver -- what can I say -- wasn't exactly foie gras.
