Ina's: "The Breakfast Queen" Ina's - Closed Tip by riorich55
Ina's - Closed, Chicago: 1 reviews and 2 photos
Just a couple of blocks down the street from Oprah's Studios is another self proclaimed Queen of Chicago, that's Ina Pinkney, the Breakfast Queen. Although Ina's serves lunch and dinner besides she is probably best know for her breakfast creations and her salt and pepper shaker collection.
Ina's has been around since 1991 and has been at her current location since 2001, but we hadn't heard of the restaurant until we were watching one of the local Chicago Food Shows a few years ago. Again, since we have more time now that the kids are out of school we have made it a new tradition to try to get out to breakfast at least once a month on the weekend's when Sue is not working.
On this particular Saturday morning we showed up for breakfast around 10:30 a.m. in the morning and although crowded we were able to get seated immediately. Sue had an omlette with cheddar and spinach and I had the vanilla bean waffle. The food was good, about the right portion, but nothing really spectacular. They do offer fresh squeeze juices which looked and smelled great, although we didn't order any as I have a difficult time paying over $3 for one glass.
Pictures here are of Sue with Ina and the outside of the restaurant.
Favorite Dish: See above for our choices on the morning we were there.
