Cinecitta: "Italian Film Festival" San Francisco Restaurant Tip by SFHulaGIrl

Cinecitta is an intimate little place just off of Columbus Avenue on Union Street. Though I'd walked by many times before, I'd never gone in. Finally a friend & I were drawn in by their Happy Hour. Every night (or maybe it's only Monday through Friday) from 5-7, they offer $3 draft beers. The place is filled with Fellini memorabilia & movie reels for decoration. We found the owner, Romina, to be very friendly. We perused the menu & saw that it mainly consists of pizzas, paninis & salads. A few days later, another friend & I returned for lunch. We both ordered salads, split a pizza & my friend had a Coke. The bill was approximately $30.00. However, I noticed that Cinecitta is the only place that I know of in San Francisco that has SUPPLI!!! Unfortunately, it wasn't ready at lunch, though she assured me that it would be in the evening. That's next on my list.

Favorite Dish: I ordered a Caesar salad, which was good. Romina even asked if I wanted anchovies in the salad or not. Even though I didn't want actual anchovies in the salad, the taste was prominent in the dressing, which was fine by me. My friend had the Di Pera salad, which consisted of spinah, pears, cheese & sundried tomatoes. It was even better than the Caesar salad. We split a pizza; she wanted the marinara (with pepperoni) & I went for the roasted chicken with mushrooms. We liked the thin cracker crust style pizza. I was pretty fond of the marinara sauce, too. Though the toppings could have used a tad bit more flavor, that won't stop us from going back again. Romina was kind enough to even throw in a complimentary dessert of chocolate, mascarpone & amaretto; it was YUM-O!!
