Superbude: "A Cool Hotel/Hostel in Central Hamburg" Hamburg Hotel Tip by Pepgiggsy

I stayed in Superbude with a friend in April 2009. It is a budget hostel/hotel fifteen minutes walk from the main railway station. Double rooms were from €59. They also offer dormitories from €16.
You could have a self-service buffet breakfast for €7, including bread, cheese, ham, youghurt, fruit, eggs, cereal etc.
I would very much recommend Superbude to anyone. It was clean and very modern with quirky, imaginative decor. Service was very efficient and friendly. The reception served as a bar and you could get a drink there all through the night. Despite this it was quiet and peaceful at least when were there.
The street is quite quiet with no neighbouring restaurants/bars/shops and "industrial" looking, so it might feel a bit deserted if you are walking back at night on your own. Don't think it is dangerous, but I think I would have felt a little intimidated if I had been on my own and walked there at night the first time.
Unique Qualities: The decor of Superbude is a bit different with imaginative use of flowerpots, beer crates and toilet plungers. Use of Internet in the reception was free, they had their private cinema.
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: The hotel/hostel is located only about 15-minute walking distance from the main railway station.
Berliner Tor metro station is 5 minutes walk away.
