Praca do Figueira (Figtree Square in English) is located in Central Lisbon which is part of Baixa Pombalina. It is one of the largest squares in downtown Lisbon. The area is also a transportation hub of the city with numerous bus terminals. A bronze equestrian statue of King John I was erected in the center of the square in the last century. It is regarded as one of the popular tourist attractions in the city of Lisbon. The statue has also been the home to pigeons as depicted in our photograph on the right. Many hotels, apartments, shops, cafés, bars and restaurants are located around the square.
