"Lluc Monastery" Majorca Island Hotel Tip by barryg23

Staying in Lluc Monastery was one of the highlights of our trip to Mallorca. The monastery is located in the Tramuntana mountains which cross the north part of the island, and offers accommodation to visitors in rooms converted from monk's cells.
Accommodation is very good value in Lluc, with double rooms costing 37 Euro per night, and small discounts if you stay for more nights. Our room was on the 2nd floor in the building beside the basilica: we had an ensuite twin room, with TV and a view out behind the monastery.
Some of the best hiking trails in Mallorca start from Lluc making it an ideal location for day trips into the mountains. There is also plenty to see in the monastery complex with a museum, the basilica, botanical gardens, and the walk up to the cross above the complex. There is also a couple of restaurants and a nice cafe on the grounds.
The monastery is very popular with tour groups and can feel overrun during the day as more and more buses pull in. But come the evening, the crowds disperse and silence and quiet return to this beautiful spot, making it a perfect place to unwind.
Comparison: less expensive than average
