Museo Nazionale Romano, Rome: 29 reviews and 111 photos
Home to the Museo Nazionale Romano, Palazzo Massimo alle Terme displays the museum's largest and most important collection of Ancient Roman treasures. The palazzo itself was built in 1887 as a Jesuits college, but was converted into a museum in the last couple of decades. The multi-floored museum contains incredible sculptures, coins and other objects found in Rome over the years. Most impressive, though, are the frescoes and mosaics found at various Roman villas near Rome, such as Villa di Livia (wife of Augustus) and Villa Farnesina.
Note: a ticket to Palazzo Massimo alle Terme or any branch of the Museo Nazionale Romano allows access into any of the museum's other branches (Palazzo Altemps, Baths of Diocletian and Balbi Crypt).
Address: Largo di Villa Peretti, 1 @ Piazza dei Cinquecento
Directions: Near Termini (main railway station)
