Paris Off The Beaten Path: 1,963 reviews and 4,158 photos
On the corner of rue St. Paul and rue des Lions St. Päul, you can find this small tower. Leonard Bottal, doctor to the Kings Charles IX and Henri III lived here for a while. But legend has it that it was in the tower that the Marquise de Brinvilliers concocted her poisons to kill off her father, siblings and husband for the heritage. Unfortunately for her, her lover Godin de Ste. Croix died and the police found papers incriminating her and her valet in the murders. She was later apprehended in Belgium after escaping, beheaded and her body burnt in 1676.
Nearest metros are Pont-Marie, St. Paul or Sully-Morland.
