Baantjermuseumcafé is located in the basement of Café Heffer at the Warmoesstraat. Appie Baantjer was a well-known detective of the local Police station and he wrote of series of Baantjer books about the Amsterdam crime stories with the detective character "De Cock" (spelled as C O C K !). These story later became popular as the Baantjer TV-series.

In the museum there are private pictures and more belongings from Appie Baantjer himself, but also material that other detectives collected.

Mo: 10AM - 1PM (individual visitors)
Groups visits need a reservation (see telephone number)

The museum is the startpoint of the liquidation tour leading along historic Amsterdam crime scenes. The tour is by bicycle and costs Euro 30,-- and is given by ex-detectives. Bullet proof vest included.
