The Li River, which flows between Guilin and Yangshou (and a lot further) is arguably the most scenic river in China. It is possible to go on a river boat between the two towns looking in amazement at the stunning karst scenery. A trip on the river in this area in my opinion is one of the best things that you can do in China.
