Favorite thing: The most important nature landscape in South-Limburg is the Gerendal, south of Valkenburg. Its famous for it many sorts of flowers. A hiking route to suggest (19 kilometres, 4 hours) takes you from Stokkum to Scheulder, trough the ? gerendal?
To Valkenburg. En route you see frogs, salamanders, martres, and many sorts of fauna. It is beautiful nature. You will see the ? schaapsput? and an oven-housenat the farm ? Gerendalhoeve? And the region has nexto the hikingroute some nice villages such as Lemiers, where you see the St. Catharina chapel, dating from about 1350, with experimental new murals made by Hans Truijen. West of the Gerendal you find the picturesque St Geertuid. Its beaufiful located in the hills, and it?s a village where time stood still. You can visit the ? miniaturrmuseum? in this village, where 80 Limburgian buildings are build on small scale. The houses of the village and beautiful and the church is also an attraction. Near St Geertruid you will come in Mheer, where the Mheer castle is located. Since 1000 there has been a castle.
