"Matthias Fountain" Matthias Fountain Tip by mvtouring

Matthias Fountain, Budapest: 12 reviews and 28 photos

From where we entered the castle grounds, one of the first things we saw was the beautiful Matthias Fountain. This artwork of Alajos Strobl was made during the period between 1898 and 1904. Fountain depicts a legend in which a young girl called Szep Ilonka ? Beautiful Ilonka fell in love with King Matthias when he was out hunting, unaware that he was the king. Matthias Fountain is one of the best known tourist spots of Budapest.
