Dolce Toscana: "Affordable accomodations in Tuscan Countryside" Tuscany Hotel Tip by Debbiedew

My friend and I took a “girls only” trip to Italy in September of 2008. Our first 3 nights were at Dolce Toscana outside the Tuscan countryside village of Montescudaio. Located atop a scenic bluff on 5 acres of olive and fruit trees, it was wonderfully quiet, clean and had the best bathrooms of our 10 days traveling Italy.
Our hosts Silvia and her Son Sebastian who lived in the states before opening Dolce Toscana were welcoming and gracious and even came to meet us at the square (we were lost) and escorted us to the inn. They speak English, Italian, French, German and Portuguese. Silvia made reservations for local dining, helped us to map out our day trips including Volterra, the coastal town of San Vincenzo along La Strada del Vino, San Gimignano (The wine road of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano) and Cecina. She also recommended and made our reservations to stay at a wonderful Pensione overlooking Florence where we spent our last 3 nights in Italy.
My only regret is not having stayed longer.
Unique Qualities: Quit, clean and has great bathrooms!
It was the perfect home base as there is so much to see and do within a couple of hours in any direction.
Address: Via San Giovanni 1, 56040 Montescudaio
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Theme: Bed and Breakfast
