"The coast north of Sfax - Ash..." Tunisia Off The Beaten Path Tip by jdak

The coast north of Sfax - Ash shebba - this is a small town just south of Hamadiyya, where many Sfaxians have beach cottages. The diving is spectacular, and about 10 m off the shore you're bound to come up with fragments of Roman pottery, vases, and statuettes....
Matmata - south of Gabes near the Libyan border. The people here live in caverns carved out of the hills.
Tozeur - in the middle of the desert, due west of Sfax, about halfway to the Algerian border....a huge palmeraie, with unfortunately one or two hotels which are kind of on the expensive side, but you can bargain, depending on the season.
The beaches south of Raf Raf - Raf Raf is a small fishing town on the road from El Marsa to Biserte. The town itself is nothing spectacular, but the beaches around the town are great. You'll need a boat to get to them, but you can bargain a ride from one of the locals. The water is crystal clear, a nice change for the murky, smelly waters of the La Marsa.
