La Fruiteria de Montserrate: "Delicious inexpensive snacks and fruit!" Quito Restaurant Tip by Kindra

This is a fantastic lunch/brunch place. Very inexpensive, casual atmosphere, multiple locations and a few dishes that can't be beat. Stay away from the sandwiches and plates of the day- thats not what the fruteria is famous for!
Fun decor too- check out the Ecuadorian/cartoon version of the Last Supper painting in the Fruteria in the Old Town.
Favorite Dish: Locro de Papas- $0.99- what a value! And the soup is sooo tasty here and filling. Its a potato-based soup with cheese and fresh avocado sliced into it. Sometimes habas (beans) are in there too.
Frutillas con cream- $2.25 - Strawberrys, chantilly cream and strawberry jam. Delicious dessert!
