A small and charming restaurant in a narrow street in Trastevere, Ristorante Asinocotto serves Italian cuisine with a bit of a contemporary twist. The food is well prepared and delicious and the lighting is not as bright as is typical in Rome. The wooden ceiling and open kitchen add to the atmosphere. I walked into this restaurant at 10:30 pm one evening in April 2009 when I was strolling aimlessly looking for a quick eat. There was a sign posted outside saying that this was Obama's favourite dining spot in Rome. Although I could not verify the accuracy of this statement, personally I was not disappointed in the food, though it could have been a touch cheaper. My main disappointment was that the kitchen had run out of the fiori di zucchi starter (zucchini blossom). Perhaps next time...
