This is the second campsite in the valley of Eskdale, further towards the Hardknott Pass end.In recent years, what once was a basic site has been taken over by The Camping Club and all mod cons are installed.

Set in spectacular countryside, Eskdale really is a walker's paradise. England's highest peak, Scafell Pike, can easily be reached from the site, as can more sedate walks, along the river Esk.

The site is very handy for Dalegarth Station, the terminus for Ratty, the narrow gauge railway that runs along the valley.

Unique Qualities: Licensed shop on site, selling local produce, including meat, bread, cake and pies. A self catering camping barn is available, sleeping up to eight people and there are also camping pods (for those who don't trust their tents in what is, after all, one of Englands wettest areas!)
