One of the best walking tours of Athens is to start at Syntagma Square and walk in the general direction of the Acropolis. You will be treated to local eateries and shops selling everything Greece. Around some corners you will find Greek Orthodox churches and Greek ruins smack dab in the middle of a shopping district or residential area. Even if your only in Athens for a short time its worth putting aside a few hours to walk through the streets and see a side of Athens that the average tourist misses.
