A sunset cruise is a great way to see life along the Tonle Sap and to escape the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh.

We did a cruise for a few hours on my birthday and it was lovely.

Somehow we ran out of drinks half way but this was not a problem as the captain just pulled up alongside a restaurant and the guys went in and bought some more.

We were also chased by a spectacular lightening storm on the way back.
Take along an esky filled with your favorite beverages, some snacks, then sit back, relax and just enjoy the views.

The easiest way to organize a cruise is to just turn up as there are heaps of boats along the river front, just walk up to one of the operators on Sisowath Quay and book a boat.

You can book for as long as you want and the average price is $12 - $15 per hour.

Make sure you take a camera and insect repellant.

The boat owner will also take you to a place called Silk Island (if you want) and you can do a tour through a silk village and see how the silk is made. Quite interesting, if you're into silks.

This was also my 50th birthday, what a way to celebrate!!
