House Jazz: "Best Fusion Food in Madeira" Madeira Island Restaurant Tip by charlie59

House Jazz was for us the best thing that happened on our holiday to Madeira. We had tried many of the so called best restaurants but here was a small, bright and fresh restaurant thirty yards from the main street where the carnival took place. The menu was true fusion with a superb Spicy Seafood in the Sri Lankan style with Pilaf Rice and Chef Alexander's Dessert Trilogy Surprise. Yes, the chef's name is mentioned on the menu.
The menu is not large, adding weight to the thought that the food is prepared with great attention to detail. The waiters are young, sexy and funny. The service quite wonderful without being overbearing and patronising. And as a bonus on Friday nights there is live jazz. No smoking in the restaurant but there is a terrace outside for them.
Such a surprise to find this restaurant at the opposite end of Funchal to the mass of places in the old town.
Favorite Dish: Roasted Pork Fillets resting on a bed of Rissoto ?a la Milanese? with Prune sauce. There was only one problem with this dish. Its presentation was a work of art. The first mouthful melted in your mouth, the taste of the pork playing a cha-cha with the Milanese rissoto. Then, when I spoke with the beautiful Tatiana, the manager and architect of this wonderful place, she told me that their chef likes to change the menu every seven to ten days!
