With hotels. you are not spoilt by choice in Thanjavur. The Oriental Towers is an affordable business hotel with rates around 1500 Rs. per night for a double room. The rooms are spacious, clean, and with TV, and although parts of the hotel could use some dusting or a renovation, I found it perfectly OK for the price. There are two hotel restaurants (veg and non-veg), a supermarket and an internet-cafe in the immediate vicinity. The staff was very helpful. All in all no reason to complain, except that the near train station and incoming/outgoing trains can disturb your sleep, so earplugs are a must. It is no honeymoon hotel, but an economic choice, and for the price it is good value.
