We had such an incredible time at Coconut Grove! We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay for few days and we really found it! There are 2 beach houses and few cabins that you can rent. Ample parking is provided in front of each unit, so you can have your car really close by. There is a BBQ area on premises that you can use in case you want to grill a steak or some fish.
We rented Beach House 2 and we were more than pleased with what we got. The living room is big, with a sofa bed good for 2 people and another small sofa. There is also a phone in the room in case you need to use it. If you want to watch TC you have a good choice of channels in Spanish and English. The kitchen is very well equipped with all that you need: from fresh ground coffee, sugar, oil, spices to dishes, pots, pans, glasses, etc. There is also a bar area that separates the living room to the kitchen and it is fun to stay at the bar and have a coffee. The bedroom has an orthopedic mattress and a tiny closet to store your clothes. The bathroom is a decent size, with a big shower and hot water (a plus!). There is also an open closet for towels, linens, etc inside the bathroom. The covered patio is big, with a huge fan, a table with 4 chairs, 2 rocking chairs and a hammock.
This place is very well run, it is very quiet and very clean. The pool is very clean and the water is just at the right temperature. You can not beat the location and the grounds are very clean and well taken care for. Diane and Richard (the owners) are very nice and friendly. Their dogs are cute and it is such a treat to watch them playing and swimming in the ocean (when Richard takes them to the beach in the morning). We like dogs and we called them on our porch every morning to have breakfast together.
From here, it literally takes 2 minutes to get to the beach. The beach is awesome and not crowded at all (which we liked a lot). Most of the times it was just the 2 of us on the beach. There was only one day when I counted 8 people on it, but other than that the beach was all ours.
Most people stay at this place just to sleep and take tours during the day. We really came here to relax and we spent all the time on the beach and by the pool. We really did not want to do any tours, we have done a lot of them during our previous trips to Costa Rica. This trip was just to do nothing but relax! And this place offered us exactly what we needed and what we were looking for.
We enjoyed the beach, the pool, the amazing sunsets, the variety of birds that we spotted either from the beach or from the porch, and the company of the dogs and their owners. It was a perfect vacation that helped us recharge.
There is no restaurant on premises, but you have a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook breakfast or lunch, if you want to. A grocery store is very close by, just a few minutes drive. Also, there are several good places to eat in town (you need a car to get there, though) if you do not feel like cooking. We did a mix of both: prepared breakfast in the room and ate in town the rest of the meals.
If you are looking for nightlife, busy atmosphere and lots of action on the beach, then this is NOT the place for you. I would really recommend this place to anybody who is looking for peace, quiet and relaxation.
Address: in Dominical, just outside the town
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
