"Asian Wok - What other kind of wok is there?" Top 5 Page for this destination Alexandria Restaurant Tip by Ewingjr98

Alexandria Restaurants: 133 reviews and 314 photos

Our quest to find the best delivery restaurant in Old Town Alexandria continues. This week's episode: Asia Wok, located on Washington Street eight blocks north of King Street. Sure its a little off the beaten path, but they deliver throughout Old Town, and there are a few hotels right out their front door.

Their restaurant is located in a funny little building that could have been a Hot Dog House or an adult novelties shop some years ago. The front section looks like a tiny house with a steep green roof perfect for those winters when we get 6 or 8 feet of snow overnight--that's right, this is Virginia, doesn't happen! The do have lots of parking, in case you want to dine in or carry out.

Their specialties are Hunan and Szechuan food, along with sushi. Their menu includes a variety of dishes including appetizers, soups, poultry, beef, seafood, pork, vegetables, chow mein, and a long list of chef's specialties such as Beijing duck, Wok's delight, Szechuan twin delight, and filet flounder stir fried in black bean sauce. Most meals on the menu come in a lunch size and a dinner size that are about $1 or $2 different in price, with all entrees ranging in price from $5 to $12.

We ordered the happy family ($11.50) along with the Szechuan chicken ($8.25) plus we had a coupon for a free egg roll with purchase of $15 or more. The meal arrived in about 30-40 minutes, after one call back from the restaurant to verify our address. When the delivery guy came to the door he said "here you go, lady, thanks, lady, have a nice day, lady," kind of like the little Asian kid in one of the old Indiana Jones movies.

The happy family contained a nice blend of scallops, shrimp, beef, chicken, pork and vegetables in a tasty sauce. The Szechuan chicken was pretty spicy, but otherwise standard except for the giant chunks of green peppers that dominated the dish.

Overall, pretty good food at fair prices for Old Town.
