"Aloha Tower" Aloha Tower Tip by Karlie85
Aloha Tower, Honolulu: 14 reviews and 29 photos
Aloha Tower is a striking lighthouse located at Honolulu Harbour. It was built in the 1920s to welcome people to the beautiful island. It was the tallest building in Honolulu for decades, standing at 10 storeys high. This is clearly no longer the case, but the building is still impressive and beautiful to look at. The style is so thoroughly 1920s and nothing has been done to alter the style of it, which I really appreciate. There is an observation deck at the top (after a very slow elevator ride), free of charge, open daily from 9am to 5pm. The tower is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The tower is surrounded by the Aloha Marketplace, a breezy open air market with shops and restaurants. We wandered through the marketplace a little bit, went to the observation deck and took in the lovely views, then had dinner on the pier and watched the sun go down. It was the perfect way to spend our last evening in Hawaii before we had to catch our plane.
