"Highlights of Sicily." Italy Things to Do Tip by breughel

Italy Things to Do: 1,470 reviews and 2,257 photos

After several visits of Sicily I would say that the highlights were the visit of the Etna (but at a period when tourists were allowed to get into the caldera; later this was forbidden), the Greek temples of Agrigente and Taormina.
Now if you don't like Rococo please note that Sicily is full of Baroque architecture. Sicilian Baroque is of course not the same as Rococo but sometimes not so far away of this style.

If you are an amateur of Greek temples there are good ones south of Sorrento at Paestum near Salerno. It's a fact that the Greek temples of Sicily and southern Italy are in a better state of conservation than the ones in Greece but this is just between you and me.

P.S. A look at " warnings or dangers " on VT might be useful for Palermo and Catania.

Bon voyage.
