"Places to go hiking and sightseeing inexpensively" Red Rock Canyon Tip by Jerryd57
Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas: 11 reviews and 28 photos
Several places to go within and hour from Las Vegas. On the west side of the valley is Red Rock Canyon. There is a 13 mile one way drive in the national park with a visitors center explaining the formation of it and several stopping points and hikes ranging from easy to difficult. Cost is $5 per car.
Also if taking US95 north there is Mt. Charleston about 20 miles out of town. When it is 110 degrees in the summer in Las Vegas it is in the 70s up there with lots of hiking trails to walk off all the previous nights indulgences. No cost.
Address: perimeter of valley on west and NW
Directions: Red Rock Canyon is about 15 miles west of strip taking Charleston or taking the 215 loop west and taking the Charleston exit then proceeding 5 miles west.
Mt Charleston is off US95 which is north ~3 miles from strip on I15 and then NW toward Reno ~25m.
