In the road divider on Lothian road, there are two similar structures which are referred to as the British Magazine. These structures are the ruins of an huge fortified building, a magazine which stored the arms and ammunition of the British troops. The building was blown up on 11th May 1857, during the first war of Indian Independence by its officer in-charge, Lieutenant Willoughby in order that the rebel Indian troops would not be successful in using the ammunition stored in the magazine. What remains today, the two similar structures, are only the gates of the British magazine. The main building was blown up.

Directions: In the middle of Lothian Road (within the road divider) just in front of the Kashmiri gate Post office
