You have to know where to find it. Abbadia Isola is a tiny little hamlet of a town, with an ancient church. The staff at CastelBigozzi recommended it to us for a special dinner. The atmosphere was charm and elegance. This should be one of those meals where you splurge, (estimate about $100US for two, all courses with wine) and it is worth it. Excellent wine list. Tourists and people from Florence and Siena come here on weekends. On the Saturday night we were there, two tables from neighboring wine-towns (who obviously knew each other) ordered wine from each other's town. One guy made a huge deal out of having the wine decanted, and sent the waitress back for the biggest crystal wine glasses I've ever seen. After he tasted the wine and declared it 'fine' he sent it over to the other table. Yes, a good time was had by all. Expect to start dinner around 8:30 or 9PM and finish at 11:30 with coffee and grappa.

Favorite Dish: Tuscan cuisine, fabulous gnocchi as a primi

Price Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: On the little road between Strove and Monteriggioni. Don't blink or you'll miss it. There is a crossed fork and spoon sign by the road where you turn in to the cluster of buildings that include the restaurant.
