Towering 135 metres, the Central do Brasil building is an Art Déco landmark in downtown Rio. It is officially called Estação Dom Pedro II and is Rio's main railway station. The existing edifice was completed in 1943 as a replacement to the original Estação Dom Pedro II, which had been built in 1858 and demolished in 1930. If you have seen the film "Central do Brasil" (or Central Station in English), then this building might be of interest.

Address: Praça Cristiano Ottoni, Av. President Vargas
