This church is much older than the St. Vitus as already in 788 there was an “ecclesia Nuzdorf” mentioned. Today’s church dates back to various centuries but the first bit is from the 12th century. Once upon a time this church was the most important between Tyrol and east of Wasserburg in Bavaria. When the small church of Kirchwald, a hermitage in the forest was built, St. Leonhard was slowly forgotten.
