La Fourchette is a nice little French Cafe in the heart of Adams Morgan. We stopped here for an early afternoon coffee, and it was filled with locals having what looked to be very nice brunches of eggs and meats. We were given one of the last two tables in the center of the room, and the waiter was kind enough to take our coats and hang them for us next to the bar. We ordered a coffee and a cappuccino along with two waters to rehydrate us after walking halfway across the district. The items on the menu, mostly big breakfasts and lots of meat, were a little too hearty for our taste, so we asked for a dessert menu. The friendly French waiter brought us the dessert tray and we quickly decided on the vanilla crepes with a brandy sauce.

The coffee came with free refills, and the cappuccino tasty. The crepe was also good and obviously homemade with chunks of crispy orange glaze interspersed with thick vanilla creme.

Our service was mediocre, the waiter seemed overworked and after about 10 minutes of good service things went downhill in a hurry. After finished eating and relaxing, we tried unsuccessfully for some 20 minutes to get our waiter's attention. Finally we flagged him down and got our bill so we could continue on our walking marathon tour of the city.
