The Waffle Shop has been a fixture on the same block as Ford's theater for 50+ years. In the late 2008s, the location was purchased for development, but the owners found a new location just a 150 feet further down the street, right across from historic Ford's Theater. The old store has apparently been named a historic landmark and will someday be reconstructed. In the meantime, get your waffle fix at the newer, more plain store.

We stopped by on the Saturday before the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the restaurant was full, but we were quickly seated in two prime spots next to the windows. We scanned the menus and quickly decided on coffees and the special "A." This great option comes with one waffle, plus two eggs any style, and a choice of bacon, ham or sausage for less than $7. Our meal arrived quickly, and I was pleased with the delicious food. The waffle was thin but tasty, the bacon maybe a little too crisp, and the eggs the highlight of the meal.

The Waffle Shop does breakfast all day, and they serve sandwiches, beer, and lottery tickets. In fact, on our way out of the restaurant and paying our bill, the Asian lady ahead of us pulled out a whole roll of 20 dollar bills and began buying up lottery tickets like there was no tomorrow. Luckily the second cash register was open so we could quickly pay and move on.
