'Chott' is the word used in Tunisia for lakes that stay dry through the hot season, but which have some water in the winter. Chott el Jerid is huge, about 5000Km2, and you will have to cross it if you are going from Tozeur to Kebili. There is not much more to tell about Chott el Jerid, apart from showing you some pictures. It ?s said that the heat and the chott reflections can give some optical effects (mirages) while crossing it. . . maybe my warrior trying to conquer the desert (picture 4) was an optical effect?? Help!!!
Updates: I revisited this chott only some weeks later (beginning of February) and at sunset. Full of water (eheh the desert conqueror still survived but had some difficulties in the water!) and seen with another light it was completely different, it looked like another lake. Just amazing!
