Ashness Bridge is one of the most recognisable sights in the Lake District as it features on many postcards and calendars. It's an elegant old stone bridge on a small road off the B5289 which runs along the eastern side of Keswick Water, and what makes it so popular is the view, which is stunning. You see the bridge in the foreground, and Derwent Water and mountains skirting the lake in the background. It's a fantastic view and well worth the hike from Keswick.

You can reach the bridge by car, but it's a great walk too and can be combined with visits to Castlerigg Stone Circle, Walla Crag, Friar's Crag and Castlehead to make a great half day walk from Keswick.
