"Imperial Palace" Imperial Palace(Kokyo Gaien National Garden) Tip by chatterley

  Imperial Palace
by chatterley

The Palace was formerly known as the Edo Castle, and was built in 1457. It used to be the residence of the shogun and location of the shogunate, and also functioned as the military capital during the Edo period. After the Meiji Restoration, it became the Tokyo Imperial Palace. It is now controlled by the Imperial Household Agency. You can still see the innermoats and walls of the castle.
