"Almirante Brown" Top 5 Page for this destination Antarctica Things to Do Tip by globetrott

Antarctica Things to Do: 515 reviews and 1,047 photos

Almirante Brown used to be a research-station run by the government of Argentina, before a fire had destroyed its main building some years ago. You will still find a small pier there, where the Zodiaks are able to land and for the first time on our trip we were able to step ashore without beeing forced to step into the water first.
There was even a stair, made of concrete, leading up to the station. The penguins took over the station, breeding around of it in large colonies, giving also their typical smell to all of the area, and next to the landing-place there was also a leopard-seal waiting in the water in order to catch some penguins for dinner.
