Favorite thing: visit the Roppongi Cross, very exciting area at night, well lit huge number of restaurants etc etc.
Make sure you visit the Gold Shop on the Ginza. Even if you can't afford to buy anything. it's worth a hour of your time. Every thing is solid gold. Leave your credit cards at the hotel.!! I wrote the foregoing sometime ago, and now this is a very important update. When I was out late at night in Tokyo, I often wondered why it was so difficult to get a taxi when there were lines of them wth their 'For Hire' signs ON!! They simply refused to accept me as
a fare. I had watched as people held up two fingers or three or sometimes four. I learned later that this indicated they were willing to pay twice three or four times the normal fare. This is what the taxi drivers were waiting for. There isn't much you can do about this, but it's as well to be aware of this practice, particularly if you are trying to get back to your hotel on a particularly wet night. If you do get stuck make your way to the nearest hotel and wait outside for a taxi delivering a guest to the hotel,it
is your best bet.

Fondest memory: Clean efficient taxi cabs. Next to London, the best service in the world, and NO TIPPING. YIPPEE. Take your room key with you. Show it to the driver and you will return to your hotel without any problems. Investigate their very efficient subway system Very efficient and very easy to follow. Good fun. Common courtesy very evident in Tokyo.
