Tallinn Things to Do: 783 reviews and 1,849 photos

If you are in Tallinn around the end of November/early December, you will have a chance to join in one of the most enthusiastically greeted film festivals around. Despite the requirement that all movies must be in English, almost every movie is sold out to crowds of young Estonians, who warm their cold winter hands by clapping feverishly at the end of each movie, no matter how bad or bizarre.

With a bit of research, and buying your tickets in advance, you should be able to see some great movies, many before they go on general release. I watched some crackers, including the Darren Aronofsky's Oscar nominated The Wrestler, Northern Ireland chronicle The Hunger, and culture shocking Tokyo Sonata.

The films are shown in cinemas all over Tallinn, and a few in cities around the country, like Tartu. Check the website for more details.
