Kadriorg Place is located within the extensive Kadriorg Park, about 2km east of the Old Town. The Palace was built between 1718 and 1736 as a residence of the Russian tsar, Peter the Great. During Estonia's independence in the 1930's the palace was used as the private residence of the president and again with new independence from Russia, part of the palace complex is used as the presidential home. The pink palace building now houses the Museum of Foreign Art. The palace gardens are open to the public and are free of charge for entry.
