Hi there.
I guess that to see the NL I would just go either towards Thingvellir thru Mosfellsbaer or go towards Hveragerði. Those are the spots the buses go to. Of course it all depends on the weather , the colder it is,the clearer it is the better it is. That said it is not the only right conditions for it but it helps :) I would say that 23rd or 24th would not be bad days to go the Golden circle, I guess at that time it will not be to many tourists. I guess that on the 24th the shops up there will be open since the buses are taking tours on that day.
