Spicy Thai was a great hostel to stay in. The house is in a gated community and use to be the US Embassadors house. "Noom", the lovely Thai man that runs the hostel is great. He is very accomodating, friendly and will set up any number of activities for you whether it's going to see the famous Buddist temple on top of the moutain, checking out the Tiger Kingdom or setting up a jungle trek. He also has activities for the house lined up daily which could include hunting for crickets at his parents home, going to a traditional thai bbq, bowling or just a night of drinking on the town.
The house has a common area or living room set up with leather couches and a tv with a selection of dvds, a collection of lonely planet books to borrow, a pool table, refrigerator with beer you can sign out and pay when you check out, washer and dryer with a line to hang your clothes, a dining table and area where you can enjoy your breakfast (cereal, oatmeal, bananas, toast, jam, butter, tea, coffee and orange juice) which is included daily, free internet, hot showers, clean bathrooms (cleaned daily).
When you check in you will recieve a set of sheets, bowl, cup, a set of silverware, and a key for the backdoor when you decide to come in after hours. I stayed in a shared room with bunkbeds I found that aspect of it to be fun, just getting to know people from all over the world. They also have private rooms for a small extra fee.
The front yard is very cute with the landscaping, benches etc. The whole guesthouse is accomodating, warm and friendly. I truly felt at home at Spicy Thai Backpackers.
Unique Qualities: The guesthouse is centrally located and within walking distance of restaurants, bars, Thai massage parlors, salons, atms, 711s etc.
