St. Paul's Cathedral, London: 289 reviews and 570 photos
There had been a church on the site of St Paul’s for over a thousand years when in 1666 the great fire destroyed two thirds of it. Christopher wren was commissioned to rebuild the church. It took just over 33 years to rebuild.
At 365 ft, St Paul’s dome is the second largest in the world after St Peter’s in Rome.
Christopher wren was 76 by the time the church was completed in 1708; his son placed the last stone in place.
St Paul’s is the setting of some of our greatest occasions of state including the funerals of nelson, Wellington and Churchill and the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981.
