Monroe Ave really start at the Upper Monroe neighborhood which is the corner of Culver St and Monroe or Cobbs Hill park or on the other end which is the end of Chestnut St (look for route 31 - stay left.

Monroe Ave is filled with fun and interesting bars some of which are real local and others are for college students. All the local stores are open during the day. Don't forget to look up and notice a lot of the older, detailed architecture ranging from 1890-1930. If you start from the city (Chestnut St) take a left onto any of the side streets (go down the larger streets) and you will run into Park Ave which is a different neighborhood. Starting at Cobbs hill and going towards the city take a right.

Monroe Ave is a grittier street than Park or East Ave, but in a cool way. Some of the bars are punk or hard rock and the Ave has some tatoo parlors and poster shops. Can be a little challenging at night, but really is safe for the most part as busy and a lot of people out going to the bars.

Directions: Most described above, but take the exit off the 490 or the Inner Loop. Most of the main streets on Park Ave and East take you all the way to Monroe Ave (Goodman, Alexander, Rutgers, Oxford, Culver).
